The majority of the volunteers that I have spoken with have told me they simply do it for the fun. These ideals and morals about volunteering are passed on from the top all the way down to the newcomers. When asked, Micky explained her true reason for volunteering “because I want to make a difference in someone else’s life. You meet many new faces through these events and this can open a great amount of doors for your future.
While donating your time, you have the opportunity to network. Volunteers often gain respect from their peers through these generous acts of human nature. Nonetheless, the joy of giving back is the greatest form of payment one can ask for. All of this time spent is done without monetary pay. Being a volunteer is a selfless act in which you put aside all your wants and needs in order to help others. The big picture is to promote good or to better someone else’s life. Volunteering means to give yourself and your time to a cause that you have a strong passion for. I am happy to say that I have come a long way with my writings. Once I got started thought it was simple.
The idea of writing an Ethnography was kind of scary at first because I had never heard of it before. You can clearly see how my writing improved throughout the class. This is the last paper we had to write in the quarter.
